Although the Trump campaign never identified Simes as an adviser, he provided counsel to the Trump team, particularly with regard to Russia. In June 2016, Mueller found, he sent a memo to then-Senator Jeff Sessions, who headed up Trump’s foreign policy team, offering several policy recommendations, including “a new beginning with Moscow,” and in August he would send Kushner himself a “Russia policy memo.”

Thank You for Celebrating Equality, Justice and Inclusion with HRC this National Poetry Month
Thank you so much for joining HRC in April to celebrate National Poetry Month with HRC Foundation’s Welcoming Schools.
The Welcoming Schools program uses the power of poetry in its lesson plans to help children share and explore issues they are passionate about, to make connections around social justice and to build inclusive communities by learning about and celebrating one another’s differences.
This month, HRC featured poems from young people speaking to the power of love and inclusion, highlighted some amazing LGBTQ poets and talked with an educator about how her work uses art and poetry to bring people together.
As this month draws to a close, HRC wanted to share a few more powerful poems from young people writing about social justice, equality and freedom.
Freedom means happiness
Freedom makes me happy
No one has control of me
I can do what I like
Freedom means nobody has pushed me
I am free when I can be me

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon appears in a new video for the Human Rights Campaign pushing for passage of the Equality Act.
Says Rippon in the clip: “I live in Los Angeles, California now, but if I packed up my clothes and threw them in my car and drove all the way back to Scranton, Pennsylvania, I would travel through so many states and every state I would travel to, my rights and my protections would change, and that’s scary. When I think about the other LGBTQ+ people that live in those states, if there’s a fear that you can be discriminated against, and that it’s okay, that must be a big thing to live with every single day. It’s important we don’t forget them.”
Adds Rippon: “The message that this legislation really sends to young LGBTQ+ people is that your identity should never be something that you feel is gonna hold you back.”
