News Anchor Slams Florida Gov. Rick Scott for 'Appalling' Refusal To Take Responsibility For Preventing Same-Sex Marriages: VIDEO

PUTNEY

ABC News Anchor Micahel Putney recently slammed Florida Governor Rick Scott for his refusal to own up to the fact that same-sex marriage is illegal in Florida in no small part because of his actions. While the state’s ban on same-sex marriage has been fought in the courts, Attorney General Pam Bondi has continued to defend it. Scott meanwhile has claimed, ‘he doesn’t have a thing to do with it’, a claim Putney is quick to refute:

“That is just nonsense. Governor Scott is the top elected official in the state. If he didn’t want Attorney General Bondi to file those appeals he can simply call her up and say, “hey stop it.” Or he can order her to stop it. That’s what Governor Scott Walker did in Wisconsin, what the governor of Virginia did, they did it in Arizona…The fact that Gov. Scott refuses to take responsibility [for preventing same-sex marriage] is appalling. But it’s not the first time.”

Cartoon Network Allegedly Censors First On-Screen Gay Kiss

Cartoon Network Allegedly Censors First On-Screen Gay Kiss
Did Cartoon Network just censor their first representation of a same-sex kiss on air?

During a recent episode of “Clarence,” the network featured an (extremely) brief gay kiss between two characters — on either cheek. According to Queerty, not only is this the first same-sex kiss on Cartoon Network, but the characters serve no relevant plot purpose and seem to be on the receiving end of a tired joke.

The bad part? A voice actor for the show, Spencer Rothbell, confirmed over Twitter that the characters originally exchanged flowers and kissed on the mouth rather then the cheek.

HuffPost UK notes the scene was “changed in order to get the green light from Cartoon Network, who air the show.”

While the actor has since made his tweets private, the original tweet can be viewed here.

The Huffington Post reached out to Cartoon Network but had not received a response at the time this story was published.

Mykki Blanco Does Not Want To Be Called A 'Gay Rapper'

Mykki Blanco Does Not Want To Be Called A 'Gay Rapper'

MykkiblancoYesterday Mykki Blanco spoke with Entertainment Weekly to promote his new album, Gay Dog Food, which drops today.

In the interview, Blanco describes the album as “gross,” and he characterizes sound as “like it’s coming out of white noise.” He compares the “crunchy” sound to an “air conditioning unit and a blender,” and he says his “more pensive and feminine” energy is the yin to the yang of known acts with similar sounds — such as Death Grips, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit.

Blanco talks sexuality, too. On the one hand, being gay means his work is often given less credit. Blanco remembers a particular anecdote:

To be honest I remember when my song “Haze.Boogie.Life” came on a friend—he didn’t say this to make me feel bad, it was just the f–king truth—he was like, you have one of the hottest f–king songs right now, but because you’re a gay rapper, people are trying to turn a blind eye toward it. If Lil Wayne or somebody came out with this song, it would be on the radio.

He also is annoyed by the labels he is given, saying he finds it “stupid” if a listener hears his new album and still wants to just put him in the simple box of “gay rapper.”
