'Birdman' Wins Best Picture At The 2015 Oscars

'Birdman' Wins Best Picture At The 2015 Oscars
One of the haziest Best Picture races in recent memory has been settled: “Birdman” took home the grand prize at Sunday’s Oscars.

Alejandro González Iñárritu’s tale of a washed-up actor’s attempt to stage a career renaissance topped “American Sniper” “Boyhood,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “The Imitation Game,” “Selma,” “The Theory of Everything” and “Whiplash.” It previously won top prizes from the Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild of America and Producers Guild of America, placing it in a heated contest with Richard Linklater’s longtime purported front-runner “Boyhood.”

“Birdman” marks the second of Iñárritu’s films to earn a Best Picture nomination, following 2006’s “Babel.” The movie was also nominated for Best Actor (Michael Keaton), Best Supporting Actor (Edward Norton), Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone), Best Director (Iñárritu), Best Original Screenplay (Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo), Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki), Best Sound Mixing (Jon Taylor, Frank A. Montaño and Thomas Varga) and Best Sound Editing (Aaron Glascock and Martín Hernández).

'Everything Is Awesome' Oscars Performance Is Amazing

'Everything Is Awesome' Oscars Performance Is Amazing
Comedy trio The Lonely Island joined Tegan and Sara at the Oscars on Sunday for a performance of their hit “Everything Is Awesome” from “The LEGO Movie.” But awesome doesn’t even begin to describe it.

The performance included dancing cowboys …

And, of course, this …

Andy Samberg previously told Billboard he was “disappointed” the Academy didn’t recognize The Lonely Island as nominees for the song, but that clearly didn’t stop him from performing “like a boss.”

Joining “Everything Is Awesome” in the best original song category are fellow nominees “Glory” from “Selma,” “Grateful” from “Beyond the Lights,” “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from “Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me” and “Lost Stars” from “Begin Again.”

Cher Throws Shade at Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson for Allowing Anti-LGBT Bill to Become Law

Cher Throws Shade at Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson for Allowing Anti-LGBT Bill to Become Law

Cher

Earlier today we reported that a bill seeking to prohibit cities in Arkansas from enacting LGBT non-discrimination ordinances is expected to go into effect tomorrow after Governor Asa Hutchinson said Friday he plans on letting the bill become law without his signature.

…But not before Cher speaks her mind on the matter:

Why am I not surprised That Asa Hutchinson, Gov of Arkansas,is hanging LBGT community out to dry⁉️

— Cher (@cher) February 22, 2015

The bill passed the Arkansas Legislature February 13, but LGBT organizations and leaders were slow to react. Other last minute efforts to pressure former Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton (and Hillary) and Bentonville-based Wal-Mart to speak out against the measure appear to have been unsuccessful.

LGBT leaders may now be wishing they could turn back time and start sounding the alarm earlier…
