Female impersonation was never suggested by my careers adviser.

Then again, neither was becoming quietly thrilled when an elderly gentleman on the Tube stood up and offered me his seat.

I smiled, thanked him and politely declined, but I couldn’t resist a private chuckle as the train pulled away. It wasn’t vanity or triumph that made me smile. It was simply the quiet satisfaction of knowing that, for one completely ordinary journey, I had been seen exactly as I hoped to be.

Not a bad day’s work.

That’ll do nicely.

Nelson Street, Bristol, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 26th April 2025.

About this photographs.

In respond to the Scottish Supreme Court ruling that the definition of sex is sex at birth, many transgenders all around the United Kingdom staged protests against the ruling.

I heard that there was going to be one in Bristol, and decided to drive down there, to do some photojournalism of the protest.

This is one of the many banners and placards being carried around, giving messages and statements. What they are trying to say is about the British government’s decision to cut benefits for disability people as well as support for mental health, and support for transgenders, in order to free up the budget to be spend on defence due to the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war, hence the meaning of Welfare, not Warfare.
