Straight press clutches pearls over Andrew Scott’s ‘racy’ Grindr photo

The British news outlet The Daily Mail reacted with hysteria this weekend by publishing a story about hunky gay actor Andrew Scott looking for love on Grindr. We’re just wondering why it’s even newsworthy.

Reporter Charlotte Griffiths claims to also have a copy of Scott’s shirtless photo, dubbing it “too racy” to publish, but adds: “let’s just say he’s not called the Hot Priest for nothing.”

In her write-up, she appears to pity Scott for needing to “resort to a smartphone app to secure a date.” Apparently Griffiths thinks that stardom comes with a free matchmaking service.

Andrew Scott, now 43, rocketed to stardom as the sexually ambiguous Jim Moriarty on the hit series Sherlock. Last year, he earned rave reviews for his work on Fleabag in which he played a character dubbed “Hot Priest.” Buzzfeed also dubbed Scott The Hottest Man on TV for his performance.

Scott had previously had a relationship with writer Stephen Beresford, though the two split last year. In interviews, Scott has said that being in a long-term relationship changed his view of sex and relationships and endorsed casual sex as a shame-free activity. “Sometimes having casual sex with people is what you need to do,” Scott told podcaster Elizabeth Day. “It’s really important. You learn from people. It’s not about the length of time you spend with somebody.”

We tend to agree. We’d also like to submit ourselves as candidates for Scott’s potential dating. Where’s the filter on Grindr for that?

A social media star and plastic surgery enthusiast formerly known as Rodrigo Alves, who appeared on the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother and has been dubbed the “Human Ken Doll,” came out as transgender in an interview with The Mirror.

Alves says she’ll be known as Roddy from now on. “I’m known as Ken but inside I’ve always felt like Barbie. I finally feel like the real me. Glamorous, beautiful and feminine. For years I tried to live my life as a man. I had a fake six pack put in, I had fake muscles in my arms but I was lying to myself. I’m a woman and have always had a feminine brain. Now my body matches my mind.”

“Behind closed doors, I’ve been living as a woman for the last three months,” continued Alves, who has more than 882,000 followers on Instagram. “I love it and everything that comes with it – going to nice hair salons and getting my nails, eyebrows and eyelashes done. Buying dresses and high heels and wearing sexy lingerie. But I have been trolled and called a freak and a weirdo, so of course I am nervous about how people will react. A few years ago I could never have done this but it feels easier now.”

‘Human Ken Doll’ Comes Out as Transgender: ‘I Always Felt Like Barbie’

Influencer ordered to pay $200K for calling her ex-boyfriend a diseased bisexual on social media

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

A Vancouver woman was just ordered to pay her ex-boyfriend $200,000 after she mounted a year-long smear campaign against him on social media.

Noelle Halcrow is an aspiring influencer with roughly 17,000 followers. Her official Twitter bio reads: “Noelle Halcrow is a Fashion Stylist, Blogger and Designer. Defying age through style and fashion.”

The drama started back in 2015, when Halcrow began a seven-month on-again, off-again relationship with business consultant Brandon Rook. After he broke things off, Halcrow had a little breakdown. Or, rather, 85 little breakdowns.

Halcrow posted over 85 social media rants calling Rook a “no-good drunkard,” “loser,” and “down-and-out failure” who is unfaithful, uncaring, homophobic, and bisexual.

She also accused him of not being sympathetic towards victims of sexual assault and of knowingly spreading herpes. “No care or compassion for those that struggle with illness,” she added. “No time for them or understanding.”

In total, Halcrow made over 100 untrue and defamatory statements against Rook over the course of one year, longer than they ever even dated. He finally decided enough was enough and filed a defamation lawsuit against her.

“She went on and published time and time again, over many days. Actually a year, or maybe more than that,” defamation attorney Bryan Baynham said. “Various versions of the same statement that the guy was a dog, basically.”

In court, Halcrow tried saying her account had been hacked, but the posts were linked to her IP address and they mirrored language she used in text messages sent to Rook.

Supreme Court of B.C. Justice Elliott Myers ultimately wasn’t swayed by Halcrow’s defense.

“I do not accept [her argument] and find that she mounted a campaign against Mr. Rook that was as relentless as it was extensive,” he said during his ruling. “I also conclude that she was motivated by malice.”

Halcrow was ordered to pay Rook $200,000 plus an additional $40,000 to cover costs for him to see a “reputation consultant.”

John Bolton Says He’s Prepared to Testify in Trump Impeachment Trial

Former national security adviser John Bolton released a statement on Monday morning saying he’s prepared to testify in the Trump impeachment trial before the U.S. Senate.

Bolton’s statement in full:

During the present impeachment controversy, I have tried to meet my obligations both as a citizen and as former National Security Advisor. My colleague, Dr. Charles Kupperman, faced with a House committee subpoena on the one hand, and a Presidential directive not to testify on the other, sought final resolution of this Constitutional conflict from the Federal judiciary. After my counsel informed the House committee that I too would seek judicial resolution of these Constitutional issues, the committee chose not to subpoena me. Nevertheless, I publicly resolved to be guided by the outcome of Dr. Kupperman’s case.

But both the President and the House of Representatives opposed his effort on jurisdictional grounds, and each other on the merits. The House committee went so far as to withdraw its subpoena to Dr. Kupperman in a deliberate attempt to moot the case and deprive the court of jurisdiction. Judge Richard Leon, in a carefully reasoned opinion on December 30, held Dr. Kupperman’s case to be moot, and therefore did not reach the separation-of-powers issues.

The House has concluded its Constitutional responsibility by adopting Articles of Impeachment related to the Ukraine matter. It now falls to the Senate to fulfill its Constitutional obligation to try impeachments, and it does not appear possible that a final judicial resolution of the still-unanswered Constitutional questions can be obtained before the Senate acts.

Accordingly, since my testimony is once again at issue, I have had to resolve the serious competing issues as best I could, based on careful consideration and study. I have concluded that, if the Senate issues a subpoena for my testimony, I am prepared to testify.
