Jerry Falwell Jr. insists photos of him at Miami circuit party are fake, photographer shows receipts

Liberty University president and antigay activist Jerry Falwell Jr. swears that’s not him in photos taken at a 2014 circuit party in Miami Beach. But multiple sources, including the photographer at the party, beg to differ.

The accusations were first made in the explosive exposé published by Politico this week. Investigative journalist Brandon Ambrosino reports:

On July 19, 2014, popular Swedish DJ John Dahlbäck performed at Wall, a nightclub in Miami Beach, Fla. That night, the club happened to have a photographer on-site to grab candid shots of the revelry. The photos were shared online by World Red Eye, an outlet that documents Miami’s nightlife scene, and Jerry and Trey Falwell were visible in some of the pictures—the outlet identified Trey by name.

Of course, a guy going to a circuit party in Miami Beach normally wouldn’t be that big a deal… except that Liberty University has a strict policy against this sort of behavior.

The college prohibits alcohol consumption for all students, even those who are over the age of 21, living on or off campus.

The official policy states:

Liberty University prohibits the possession, use, manufacture, or distribution of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, nicotine, illegal drugs, and non-prescribed controlled substances by its students, whether this occurs on or off campus. … Violations of this prohibition may result in disciplinary action, including a sanction of non-return or administrative withdrawal.

The college also discourages co-ed mingling, especially after sundown.

The official policy states:

All students are asked to display mature Christian behavior in social interaction. Proper respect must be shown to all individuals at all times. Harassment of any type will not be tolerated. Handholding is the only appropriate form of personal contact. Improper personal contact or other forms of public display are considered in poor taste. After dusk, students should not be alone with an individual of the opposite sex in any unlighted area such as the ball fields, parking lots, parked cars, ravine or other wooded areas, etc. This is considered improper social behavior.

When asked by Ambrosino about the photos, Falwell denied ever going to the nightclub and said the pictures were photoshopped.

“There was no picture snapped of me at WALL nightclub or any other nightclub,” he claimed. “I’m sure you already knew that though.”

“If you show me the picture, I can probably help you out. I think you are making some incorrect assumptions, or have been told false things or are seeing something that was photo-shopped.”

But sources tell a much different story. They say Falwell was “angry” when he learned the photos had been taken and even tried having them scrubbed from the internet.

Politico reports:

To remedy the situation, multiple Liberty staffers said Falwell went to John Gauger, whom they characterized as his “IT guy,” and asked him to downgrade the photos’ prominence on Google searches. Gauger did not respond to requests for comment.

Now, the photography agency that took the photos is also pushing back against Falwell’s claims the images were doctored.

World Red Eye has been documenting Miami’s party scene for over 20 years. After being accused by Falwell of photoshopping the images, the company’s founder, Seth Browarnik, put out a statement this morning that reads:

For 21 years, I have maintained an impeccable reputation for documenting Miami Beach’s storied social scene.

We wholly reject Jerry Falwell Jr.’s baseless allegation in yesterday’s Politico report by Brandon Ambrosino that one of our pictures was “photo-shopped” or manipulated in any fashion.

We, in fact, did not know Politico’s purpose for licensing the image and were as surprised as anyone to discover that Mr. Falwell was among the partygoers we photographed on July 19, 2014 at WALL Lounge.

As a result, we reviewed all the images we have from the event and discovered an additional four photos that include Mr. Falwell and two more of his son.

Statement in response to yesterday’s @politico story on Jerry Falwell Jr. that included our photographs. Additional photographs of Mr. Falwell and his son are posted here: t.co/szq7nAFkP0 pic.twitter.com/Y8t36Qpfqa

— Seth Browarnik (@worldREDEYE) September 10, 2019

Browarnik included several more pictures of Falwell at the club. You can see the all of the images HERE.

So now that Falwell has officially been caught in a lie, we can’t help but wonder: What else might the evangelical leader be lying about?

His “close friendship” with the pool boy perhaps?

His “business mentorship” to his personal trainer maybe?

Oh, and what about those x-rated photos of himself that he swears absolutely do NOT exist?

Drip… drip… drip…

Aaron Schock Showed Up to an L.A. Gay Bar and Got an Earful from an Outspoken Drag Queen: WATCH

Disgraced Republican congressman Aaron Schock showed up at the West Hollywood gay bar Revolver last week and L.A. drag queen Jonnie Reinhart couldn’t let the visit go by without doing or saying something.

Said Reinhart in a video posted to Facebook: “I’m not a confrontational person. And immediately my heart started racing, and I was like, ‘Okay, what am I gonna do?’ I know a lot of people would’ve loved me to just kick him out, or throw a drink at him, or call him out on the mic or just do something really big. But I decided to share a message through song, and I went on stage and I announced, ‘This song goes out to somebody who’s in the audience and it goes out to anybody who votes against gay rights. And I sang ‘F**k You‘ by Lily Allen which was not a very subtle message.”

Reinhart went on to say that after the performance a friend of Schock’s came up to him and started creating a dialogue, so Reinhart decided to talk to Schock directly, explaining to the former lawmaker why he was angry about his presence and told him he needed to apologize.

“He listened and he thanked me for talking to him directly.”

Reinhart said that Schock shared his experience of being publicly outed and coming out to his family, which apparently didn’t go well. Reinhart also said that Schock is working on “putting out a statement.”

“I believe the LGBTQ+ community should be a safe haven for people who are cast out of their families, but when you’re a public official who has voted against gay rights, we’re not gonna welcome you with open arms until you prove that you truly stand with us,” added Reinhart.

Schock recently completed an unheard of deal to escape corruption charges including filing false tax returns, mail fraud, wire fraud, submitting false reports to the FEC, false statements, and theft of government funds, defrauding the government of more than $100,000.

In March, federal prosecutors agreed to drop all corruption charges against Schock (R-IL) if he paid back $42K to the IRS and $68K to his campaign and stayed out of trouble for six months in a deal known as a “deferred prosecution.” He recently completed that process.

The disgraced anti-gay Illinois lawmaker resigned from his seat in 2015 after questions arose about his alleged misuse of funds.

Headlines surrounding the former congressman have turned more personal in recent weeks after social media photographs showed Schock hanging out and traveling with various gay men. Schock has never apologized for his support of a federal amendment to ban same-sex marriage or his support of the military’s ban on openly gay service members. He has denied he is gay when asked by the press.

So Schock’s hypocrisy has been pointed out frequently in recent months, after photographs were taken of him with a group of gay men at the Coachella Music festival, he was spotted talking up various men at a West Hollywood pool, he was photographed putting money in a go-go boy’s briefs, he was hanging out with a popular gay Instagram “influencer,” and after a nude, sexual video turned up on Twitter.

An FEC filing from Schock in early June raised speculation that he was planning another run for office, but Schock has denied that is happening.

Warren’s campaign had its own booth at the convention in New York City, and Warren recorded a message for attendees as well. Drag queen Shea Couleé said that all the candidates were invited to take part in DragCon but only Warren accepted the invitation.

Said Warren in the video: “I’m in this fight for an America that works for everyone, not just for a thinner and thinner slice at the top. I’m in this fight for full LGBTQ+ equality. We’ve got a lot of work to do to make sure that everyone is free to be who they are and love who they love. A record number of trans Americans were killed last year, disproportionately trans women of color. We need to call it out, and we need to fight back. … Equal means equal period, and that’s what I’m fighting for.”

‘This Close’ gets even more up close and personal for dramatic and guest star-filled second season

‘This Close’ gets even more up close and personal for dramatic and guest star-filled second season

THIS CLOSE, SEASON 2

Sundance Now

The GLAAD Media Award-nominated series This Close premieres its highly-anticipated eight-episode second season on Tuesday, September 12th, on streaming service Sundance Now. The series is written by and stars Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman, who are both deaf, while Josh also identifies as gay.

“Being deaf is a messy thing. Not only does it means different things to different people, for me sometimes it means different things daily,” Shoshannah recently told Entertainment Tonight about creating the sexy and often quite serious series. “So we went about handling our show the same way.”

We caught up Josh and Shoshannah to get their take on what fans can look forward to.

WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT FROM SEASON 2 — WHAT NEW ADVENTURES ARE IN STORE FOR OUR PROTAGONISTS, KATE AND MICHAEL?

We flip the script at the beginning of the season by having Michael be the more stable one, or at least appear to be, in the friendship, as Kate becomes more unmoored. Michael tries to make it work with Ryan again, but he’s still in denial about a lot of things. Kate definitely takes more risks this season as she tries to find her voice at work, and as a single woman – but risks don’t always pay off. We’re going to see how that affects those around her and shapes her as a woman and human being.

Josh Feldman and Lisa Rinna, This Close, Season 2

HOW WILL THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KATE AND MICHAEL EVOLVE THIS SEASON?

A recurring theme we’re going to see this season is family. We’re going to see a lot of both of Kate and Michael’s respective families. When you go through trauma together as Kate and Michael have, it bonds you even more. However, because of how close they are, sometimes they can take that bond for granted, so they definitely find their friendship tested. It takes work to make a relationship survive – even friendships – and Kate and Michael are about to discover that.

YOU HAVE AN INCREDIBLE LINEUP OF GUEST STARS FOR SEASON 2; TELL US ABOUT WHO YOU HAVE AND WHICH CHARACTERS THEY’LL BE PLAYING?

We have Marcia Cross playing Kate’s mother, Millicent Simmonds playing Emmaline, a friend of the family, and Austin Nichols as Shep, Kate’s first love, showing up in Episode 2 alone. Then we have Lisa Rinna, who plays Ryan’s mother, Margaret Cho who plays a new acquaintance of Michael’s, Camryn Manheim, who plays a therapist, and Steven Weber as Michael’s father.

YOU RECEIVED BOTH PEABODY AWARD AND GLAAD MEDIA AWARDS NOMINATIONS FOR YOUR FIRST SEASON; WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS THAT RESONATED SO MUCH WITH AUDIENCES, WHICH LED TO THE SHOW BEING SO CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED?

(Josh) Honestly, we don’t know! We just wanted to tell a story that was as human as possible.

(Shoshannah) I watch television to get out from behind my own two eyes. I get tired of seeing the world through them sometimes, and I’m always curious about other people and their experience and how they see the world. Sometimes I wish I could step into their body and borrow their eyes for a bit. I don’t think I’m alone in that regard, otherwise, television and film wouldn’t be as successful as it is. I think this is a story that hasn’t been told through this perspective before, and so I’d like to think that’s what people have picked up on.

Nyle DiMarco and Shoshannah Stern, This Close Season 2

WHERE DO YOU THINK REPRESENTATION FOR CHARACTERS WITH DISABILITIES IN FILM AND TELEVISION IS HEADING? IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION? OR IS THERE STILL QUITE A WAYS TO GO?

While there’s certainly been an exciting uptick in deaf and disabled characters being seen on the screen, there hasn’t been as much uptick in representation behind the screen. Disability and diversity are still seen as two separate conversations when they need to be one and the same. One in four Americans identify as having a disability, but disabled characters are shown onscreen only 2% of the time, and 95% of those characters are played by able-bodied people. While we’ve made some exciting strides, such as having the first deaf superhero in the MCU played by Lauren Ridloff, a deaf woman of color (in The Eternals, coming in 2020), we also have the situation where CBS All Access cast a hearing actor to play Nick Andros in The Stand, one of the most iconic deaf characters in literature. It was disappointing that the people involved with casting that role weren’t willing to have an open conversation about it.

WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU BOTH BEEN UP TO IN YOUR CAREERS RECENTLY? JOSH, I KNOW THAT YOU WERE PART OF THE SUNDANCE INSTITUTE’S MOMENTUM FELLOWSHIP, IN CONJUNCTION WITH WARNER BROS.

(Shoshannah) I did an independent movie called The Magnificent Meyersons about a dysfunctional family in New York City. Richard Kind and Kate Mulgrew play my parents and Lauren Ridloff plays my girlfriend. I can also confirm that I’m returning to Supernatural for its final season to reprise my role as Eileen Leahy. I have some very exciting things coming up after that and horizons I’m hopefully broadening, but I’m not allowed to say anything about that at this early stage.

(Josh) My Momentum fellowship has been amazing, it’s been great getting to know the other fellows in my cohort. I’m currently writing a feature and will be shadowing directors with Ryan Murphy’s HALF Initiative so I eventually can start directing.

This Close returns to Sundance Now with new back-to-back episodes on September 12th. Additional back-to-back episodes will continue airing on Friday, September 13th, Thursday, September 19th, and Friday, September 20th.
