Trump Displays Doctored Hurricane Chart in Oval Office Update on Dorian: WATCH

Donald Trump displayed a NOAA chart that appeared to have been doctored with a Sharpie in an Oval Office update on Hurricane Dorian on Wednesday. The chart contained an extra black line stretching to the west of Dorian’s forecast path, a move some suggest was meant to cover for an incorrect prediction he had made that the storm would hit Alabama.

Can’t let this go unnoticed. @realDonaldTrump displayed a doctored version of the @NHC_Atlantic forecast for #Dorian.

Yep. Here’s the official WH release on the Aug. 30 FEMA brief. You can see the same map – no sharpie. t.co/DWJ79k6PbD pic.twitter.com/1TdbUGS6xJ

Trump insisted three times on Sunday that Dorian would hit Alabama, even after it was refuted by the National Weather Service, CNN reported.

Alabama will not be impacted by Dorian in any way. t.co/QKq10l6SXA

Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east. #alwx

Some are accusing Trump of violating federal law by displaying a false weather report.

The President of the United States altered a National Hurricane Center map with a sharpie to falsely extend the official forecast toward Alabama so he didn’t have to admit he was wrong in a tweet. t.co/i0CJcYV4yq pic.twitter.com/pR57IL6WfT

This flirty Instagram post between Jerry Falwell Jr. and his ‘personal trainer’ is probably nothing

This flirty Instagram post between Jerry Falwell Jr. and his ‘personal trainer’ is probably nothing

The mysterious relationship between homophobic president of Liberty University Jerry Falwell Jr. and his 20-something personal trainer Ben Crosswhite just got even more mysterious… Or less mysterious… We’re not sure which.

Yesterday, we shared a video posted back in March 2017 on Crosswhite’s Instagram page depicting him and Falwell working out together.

Related: There’s so much to unpack in this video of Jerry Falwell Jr. and his ‘personal trainer’

In the video, Crosswhite can be seen holding the camera out in front of him while Falwell pushes him on a sled from behind.

“Come on!” he orders. “Faster! Come on! Push it!”

Falwell grunts in response.

“Let’s go!” Crosswhite demands. “Come on!”

This inspired us to do little more digging into Falwell’s Instagram page, where we found another, shall we say, gem.

On March 13, 2013, Falwell posted a picture of a rainbow without a caption. The post received a mere 23 likes and one comment. The sole comment came from Crosswhite and simply reads, “I love rainbows ;)”

We can’t help but wonder: What’s with the rainbow? And what’s with the winky face?

Last week, it was revealed that Falwell had arranged to give Crosswhite a sprawling, multi-million dollar, 18-acre fitness facility belonging to his non-profit university plus an additional $650,000 for almost nothing in return.

Both Falwell and Crosswhite denied anything nefarious was going on, with Falwell insisting he’s merely a “business mentor” to the young personal trainer, and Crosswhite putting out a statement saying that he has a wife who he loves very, very much.

Eric McCormack and Debra Messing Say Call to Expose Trump Donors Was ‘Misinterpreted’ After Sharp Rebuke from Whoopi Goldberg: WATCH

Eric McCormack and Debra Messing Say Call to Expose Trump Donors Was ‘Misinterpreted’ After Sharp Rebuke from Whoopi Goldberg: WATCH

Will & Grace stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing took to social media to clarify calls to expose the names of Trump donors contributing to a California fundraiser, saying their intentions were “misinterpreted.”

Wrote McCormack on Instagram: “I want to be clear about my social media post from last week, which has been misinterpreted in a very upsetting way. I absolutely do not support blacklists or discrimination of any kind, as anyone who knows me would attest. I’d simply like to understand where Trump’s major donations are coming from, which is a matter of public record. I am holding myself responsible for making educated and informed decisions that I can morally and ethically stand by and to do that, transparency is essential.”

Messing retweeted McCormack’s message, adding, “My friend @eric_mccormack posted this today. It perfectly explains the intent behind each of our posts concerning the fundraiser. I am posting it here because, honestly, I couldn’t have said it better.”

— Debra Messing (@DebraMessing) September 3, 2019

Messing got into a Twitter feud with Trump after calling for a list of donors to be published last week.

Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know. t.co/YV4UoxrPHI

— Debra Messing (@DebraMessing) August 31, 2019

I have not forgotten that when it was announced that I was going to do The Apprentice, and when it then became a big hit, helping NBC’s failed lineup greatly, @DebraMessing came up to me at an Upfront & profusely thanked me, even calling me “Sir.” How times have changed!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 1, 2019

McCormack echoed her requests.

Hey, @THR, kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx. t.co/7W3xPG3bI2

— Eric McCormack (@EricMcCormack) August 30, 2019

The calls to expose donors inspired a sharp rebuke from View co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who said, “Listen, the last time people did this, people ended up killing themselves. This is not a good idea, OK? Your idea of who you don’t want to work with is your personal business. Do not encourage people to print out lists because the next list that comes out, your name will be on and then people will be coming after you. We had something called a blacklist and a lot of really good people were accused of stuff. Nobody cared whether it was true or not. They were accused. And they lost their right to work. You don’t have the right! In this country, people can vote for who they want to. That is one of the great rights of this country.”

Joy Behar also said she disagreed with the strategy.

Here’s another reason to love ‘Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance:’ Gay puppets

Here’s another reason to love ‘Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance:’ Gay puppets

Deet in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Move over Bert & Ernie: there are new gay puppets on the block.

No, not literally on Sesame Street, though in a fitting twist they come from the same workshop. Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance debuted to rave reviews this weekend, introducing viewers to a more detailed look at the mythic world of Jim Henson’s original 1982 film, The Dark Crystal. The new show is set thousands of years before the 1982 movie, though it features many of the same characters and species. The new incarnation confirms that same-sex couples are part of the natural order in the magical world of Thra.

Related: What to Watch: Husbands conquering Hollywood, gay girl woes and a ‘Crystal’ adventure

One of the main characters in the new series is Deet, a cave-dwelling gelfling (think tiny elves) girl who lives with her two dads. The show doesn’t make too big a deal out of her parentage; rather, it appears incidental to her character…kind of like a child might refer to her gay dads in real life.

Other same-sex couples appear on the show as well, including the gelfling princess Tavara and her girlfriend Ornica. Another same-sex couple, the Mystic known as the Wanderer and the Skeksis known as the Heretic, live together in sin of sorts, having betrayed their clans to be together. In a sense, their relationship echoes that of real-world same-sex couples, having been cast out for their love of one another.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance also makes metaphorical statements about gender, environmentalism, addiction, socioeconomic class and science run amok. Produced entirely with puppets and minimal computer effects, the show plays like Game of Thrones on acid: dark, thoughtful, visceral and unlike anything else on TV.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance streams exclusively on Netflix.

‘Younger,’ ‘Elite,’ a New Camp Classic and More TV This Week

‘Younger,’ ‘Elite,’ a New Camp Classic and More TV This Week

Elite

Check out our weekly guide to TV this week, and make sure you’re catching the big premieres, crucial episodes and the stuff you won’t admit you watch when no one’s looking.

You’d be forgiven for thinking each city’s edition of The Real Housewives are indistinguishable, but I’m here to remind you The Real Housewives of Dallas stars an actual self-described “carny,” so … Season premiere Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Bravo.

TV Land’s series Younger brings its sixth season to a close Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern. Starring Broadway favorite Sutton Foster, the series had its fair share of queer storylines and co-stars out actor Nico Tortorella.

Take your sexy teen drama with a side of telenovela Friday with new episodes of the Spanish-language series Elite on Netflix. The show features multiple queer characters, including our favorite pair, Omar and Ander.

Mindy Kaling plays an upstart writer on a late-night talk show hosted by Emma Thompson in Late Night, coming to Amazon Friday. The film tackles big issues like feminism and representation with still plenty of humor and heart.

It’s still early for the TV season to be in full swing, so treat yourself Saturday to a screening of A Simple Favor, premiering on Epix at 8 p.m. Eastern. It’s an utterly batsh*t “thriller” starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, and, trust me, it’s a contemporary camp classic in the making.

What are you watching this week on TV?

MORNING MUST READ FROM THE GUARDIAN ON TRUMP-PENCE’S ESCALATING ATTACKS ON LGBTQ PEOPLE: “The Trump administration has attacked LGBT rights in healthcare, employment, housing, education, commerce, the military, prisons and sports. These efforts, it turns out, were just the beginning,” writes Guardian’s Sam Levin (@SamTLevin). In the coming months, the Supreme Court will hear three cases on anti-LGBTQ employee discrimination, which several federal courts have previously held violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Trump-Pence administration, however, has asked the Supreme Court to reverse course and strip LGBTQ people of their right to be free from discrimination under federal nondiscrimination law. More from The Guardian.

WHAT THE WHAT? WEDNESDAY — LUNCH ≠ ACCEPTANCE: The latest talking point from the White House makes the absurd suggestion that by having lunch with a same-sex couple, Mike Pence is somehow relieved of his long, ugly history of anti-LGBTQ animus. In fact, if lunchmates make the man — remember that just last month, Pence met with three different anti-LGBTQ extremists in five days. More from Business Insider, Metro Weekly and HuffPost.

THE PHILIPPINES’ HIGHEST COURT REJECTS CASE THAT SOUGHT TO LEGALIZE MARRIAGE EQUALITY — BUT URGES CONGRESS TO ADDRESS: In rejecting the case on technical grounds, the court noted the “constitution does not define, or restrict, marriage on the basis of… sexual orientation, or gender identity,” and that marriage equality “should be addressed to Congress.” More from France 24.
