Donald Trump has blocked Vote Vets, a progressive, pro-LGBT veterans group, on Twitter.

Tweeted the group: “The Commander in Chief can block @VoteVets, the voice of 500k military veterans and families, but we will NOT be silenced”

Writes The Hill:

The group has in the past criticized the president over his budget proposal, Republican attempts to repeal and replace ObamaCare and the president’s executive order temporarily barring individuals from certain predominantly Muslim nations from entering the United States.

In one television advertisement aired during MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in early February, VoteVets spoke directly to Trump, telling him to start acting like “a legitimate president.”

“Look, you lost the popular vote … You’re having trouble drawing a crowd …  And your approval rating keeps sinking …” a veteran of the war in Afghanistan says in the ad.

“But kicking thousands of my fellow veterans off their health insurance by killing the Affordable Care Act, and banning Muslims won’t help …  And that’s not the America I sacrificed for … . You want to be a legitimate president, sir? Then act like one.”

Looks like he is blocking all veterans. Blocked me as well pic.twitter.com/m4HqyXIAsV

#HonorThemWithAction offers 49 ways to respect lives claimed at Pulse

#HonorThemWithAction offers 49 ways to respect lives claimed at Pulse

#HonorThemWithAction

To mark one year since the unprecedented mass shooting that claimed 49 lives at Pulse Night Club, advocates for the Orlando LGBTQ community are mobilizing organizations and people around the world to recognize those who were taken that night and their surviving families with #HonorThemWithAction. GLAAD is a proud partner of the campaign, which is also accessible in Spanish.

This campaign offers tangible and meaningful ways to create a culture of safety, acceptance, and equality in order to honor the memory of the lives claimed in the horrific 2016 attack, who were overwhelmingly young, Latinx, and LGBTQ. By acknowledging and defending those intersecting identities, partners and participants of #HonorThemWithAction commit to combating hatred and creating lasting change.

Starting one year from the nation’s deadliest attack on LGBTQ people, #HonorThemWithAction suggests new ways to participate daily in the campaign. The first day of action encourages spreading the word by using the hashtag on social media to raise awareness against anti-LGBTQ discrimination and violence. The campaign provides a toolkit for those looking to get invovled online.

As an #HonorThemWithAction partner, GLAAD has created various resources to ensure the people and communities most impacted by the attack on Pulse are not forgotten and that their legacies mobilize others to accelerate aceptance. GLAAD staff was recently on the ground in Orlando equipping survivors and surviving loved ones with the tools to amplify their voices in the media. Additionally, GLAAD created and distributed accessible & sharable guidelines for media professionals looking to accurately, fairly, and respectfully cover the one-year mark of the attack, which are available in English and in Spanish.

GLAAD also released a video of LGBTQ young advocates and influencers discussing the importance of safe, welcoming, and affirming places for LGBTQ people, who often face rejection and violence for being who they are:

Over the past year, GLAAD has been working alongside organizations in Orlando, such as Equality Florida, to assist in honoring the victims and their families. “The horrific attack on Latin night at Pulse nightclub is a tragic reminder of how far we have left to go to achieve full acceptance of LGBTQ people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

You can sign up here to become a Pulse Partner and tell the world about what you are doing to uproot anti-LGBTQ bias and bigotry in honor of the lives claimed in Orlando one year ago.

Cazwell Wants to Make America Femme Again with ‘Loose Wrists’ – WATCH

Cazwell Wants to Make America Femme Again with ‘Loose Wrists’ – WATCH

NYC-based rapper Cazwell is back with “Loose Wrists”, the first single from his new music label Snow Cone, and hopes to “make America femme again.”

Cazwell performs much of the clip with his dancers in a set of pastel lace rompers designed by Hoza Rodriguz that have already gone viral on social media.

Instagram Photo

Said Cazwell of the lace fashion: “I was surprised by the reaction because the outfits are way more conservative than the shirtless guys in Speedos and jockstraps I typically have in my videos.”

He adds: “I noticed a Femme pride movement brewing a few years back but it has not been so visible until now. Its about time we all embrace femme. Whether we are gay or straight, when men get in touch with their feminine sides, it gives a real sense of empowerment.”

He sees himself as part of the resistance and hopes you will be too:

“We have a president that wants to take us off of the census and a vice president that believes shock therapy will cure gayness. At the end of last year, I vowed to be as gay as possible with my music and videos. We have to be more visible than ever and I hope I inspire that.”

#HonorThemWithAction: Raymond Braun and Tyler Oakley Visit Orlando on One Year Mark of Pulse Attack

#HonorThemWithAction: Raymond Braun and Tyler Oakley Visit Orlando on One Year Mark of Pulse Attack

One year after the Pulse nightclub shooting, HRC partnered with social media influencers Raymond Braun and Tyler Oakley in Orlando to visit survivors of the shooting, families of victims and the local LGBTQ community.

The emotional 18-minute long video features Christine Leinonen, whose son Drew was killed at Pulse, survivors Brandon Wolf and Angel Colon, and local leaders Terry DeCarlo and Rep. Carlos Smith.

Today, HRC and a broad coalition of organizations joined Equality Florida’s #HonorThemWithAction campaign to pay tribute to the 49 people whose lives were taken on that terrible Sunday morning with vigils across the nation.

Along with Braun and Oakley, we mourn and pay respects to those impacted by that fateful night. Here are four ways #HonorThemWithAction:

  1. Text UNITE to 30644 to join HRC’s Mobile Action Network. By joining, you’ll be up to date on the latest LGBTQ news, actions and resources available.
  2. Be a part of the change, be engaged, get involved! Find more than a dozen ways to make a difference at hrc.org/help.
  3. Contact your member of congress by texting MY CONGRESS to 30644. Tell them to support commonsense gun safety laws and the Equality Act.
  4. Share this video and how you plan to #HonorThemWithAction on social media.

Congressman Proposes Article of Impeachment Against Trump

Congressman Proposes Article of Impeachment Against Trump

A California lawmaker has unveiled a proposed article of impeachment against Donald Trump for obstructing justice in a federal investigation.

Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman’s (above) legislative text argues that Trump’s alleged attempts to pressure James Comey to drop an FBI investigation into former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn amounted to obstruction of justice.

“In all of this,” the article of impeachment reads, “Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”

According to The Hill, in a letter of fellow lawmakers on Monday, Sherman said that he is considering forcing a floor vote if the House Judiciary Committee does not take it up.

“I would hope that the Article, once submitted, would receive expeditious consideration by the Judiciary Committee. However, if it becomes clear that such consideration is not forthcoming, I (after consultation with colleagues and leadership) will make a privileged motion that the entire House of Representatives immediately debate the Article,” the letter reads. “At that point, I expect there will be a Motion to Table, thus triggering our first impeachment-related vote.”

Sherman also indicated that he may file more articles of impeachment if there is “additional evidence” to support charges against Trump.

Today on the floor of the Congress of the United States of America, I will call for the Impeachment of the President between 9am & 10am CST.

— Congressman Al Green (@RepAlGreen) May 17, 2017

Rep-al-green-texasRep. Al Green (right), who was the first Democrat to announce he would begin drafting articles of impeachment against Trump, is working separately on a resolution similar to Sherman’s.

At a joint press conference last week, Green said: “The question really is not whether the president has obstructed justice; the question really is whether the president can obstruct justice with impunity.”
