“Mom” Tells Christian Host Disneyland Turned Her Teen Son Gay, Speaks In Tongues

“Mom” Tells Christian Host Disneyland Turned Her Teen Son Gay, Speaks In Tongues

imagesGay Days at Disneyland is coming up soon, the annual weekend when the happiest place on earth becomes the gayest place on earth.

So it’s the perfect time to revisit this absolute gem of a prank phone call.

Brother Russell — aka “Melba” — calls into a local Christian radio show to describe her experience taking her son to Disney World. As luck would have it, it turned out to be gay day.

“Can you tell me what you saw?” the host sincerely asks, adding “some of this you probably can’t describe on a family show!”

Russell’s delivery is pitch perfect as he, as Melba, explains that her son was recruited by the eighteen-year-old gay son of a Disney employee.

The whole thing ends with a creepy prayer and Melba speaking in tongues.

Well played, Melba. Well played.

82-Year-Old Vet Wants Gay Dishonorable Discharge Removed from Military Record

82-Year-Old Vet Wants Gay Dishonorable Discharge Removed from Military Record

An 82-year-old military veteran, Donald Hallman, is determined to clear his name.

The senior citizen has asked the military to remove his decades-old dishonorable discharge for being a “Class II homosexual.” According to American Veterans for Equal Rights, an estimated 114,000 soldiers were given a dishonorable discharge and drummed out of the service before the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy was repealed in 2011. Members of the military are now allowed to serve openly.

The designation has tangible repercussions beyond the psychological pain the discharges caused. Not only does it disqualify veterans from receiving benefits, but it can also make it harder to find a job if the applicant lists their military service. Plus, the Veterans Association can now deny benefits to someone who’s discharge was the result of “aggravating circumstances” such as desertion, refusal to follow orders, or any misconduct leading to a court martial.

Gay veterans can apply to change their discharge status, but the requests must be done individually and can take years to accomplish. Many veterans rack up enormous legal bills fighting the designation. And it is the individual’s responsibility to prove the discharge was wrongly assigned.

Democratic congressmen Mark Pocan and Charlie Rangel introduced legislation in 2013 to streamline veterans appeals for removing the designation, but despite 102 bipartisan co-sponsors, the legislation died in a congressional term most noted for its lack of cooperation and achievements. Senator Brian Schatz introduced similar legislation earlier this year, but it has not moved forward.

“As an American, a congressman, and a Korean War veteran, I was proud to join my colleagues in ending the discriminatory law that previously barred open gay and lesbian soldiers from serving their country,” said Rep. Rangel when introducing his 2013 proposal. “Now is the time to finish the job and ensure that all those who served honorably are recognized for their honorable service regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Watch below as Hallman makes his case to CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield.

We Should Treat All Americans Fairly — Even Kim Davis

We Should Treat All Americans Fairly — Even Kim Davis
2015-09-11-1441934405-1198938-kim.jpg

Kim Davis, the county clerk in Kentucky, who was just released from jail after publicly defying the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage says she did so “Under God’s authority.” As much as I want to attack or ridicule her, I can’t. Because that’s not the way we should deal with people who believe differently than we do.

As our nation’s laws progress toward respecting every member of our society, we need to learn to speak our differences respectfully and to reject any practice, law or policy that denigrates people.

After publicly coming out to the world in my article on TheRoot.com, “I’m Black, I’m a Minister and I’m Gay”, I expected some backlash but never did I imagine the attack from some in my own Christian community to be so cruel.

To bully, berate and belittle someone because their truth is different from yours only leads to continual discord in our diverse nation.

Kim Davis has every right to believe as she does. That’s America; people of all colors, creeds and sexual orientations being able to express their different beliefs through the freedom of speech. But what she does not have the right to do is impede on the rights of any other American based on her personal convictions.

Refusing a right protected by the law because of your religious belief is a perfect example of how not to govern in the 21st Century. Imagine a Muslim firefighter refusing to put out a fire at a Jewish Temple or vice versa. This is why it’s very important to adhere to the separation of church and state. So if religious convictions prevents someone from doing their job, especially a government official, then they should probably find another profession that aligns with their religious beliefs.

Kim Davis is not the first person to ever stand on the bible to resist change. People quoted the bible to object to things like women getting the right to vote or Blacks and Whites being allowed to intermarry. Equal rights came just the same.

I don’t judge Kim Davis for holding fast to her beliefs as a Christian. Civil disobedience like hers or like some in the Black Lives Matters movement have always forced the nation to do a gut-check during times of change. They make us see that there are many issues that still need to be addressed so that every American is treated fairly under the law.

I believe that fair treatment of all Americans no matter what color, creed or sexual orientation is coming. We as a civil society must hold fast to the notion that love and acceptance of one another, despite our differences, is the only prosperous way forward for our diverse nation.

Demi Lovato hints she is bisexual on Alan Carr: Chatty Man

Demi Lovato hints she is bisexual on Alan Carr: Chatty Man

Former Disney star Demi Lovato has hinted she is bisexual during a to-be-aired interview on UK

show Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

When quizzed about the lyrics to her new single Cool For the Summer, which some say is about experimenting with your sexuality, she said: ‘I’m not confirming and I am definitely not denying [that].’

When asked if she has gone ‘cool for the summer’, the 23-year-old replied: ‘All my songs are based on personal experiences. I don’t think there is anything wrong with experimentation at all.’

The song in question includes the lyrics: ‘Tell me what you want/What you like/It’s okay/I’m a little curious too… Got my mind on your body and your body on my mind/Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to take a bike.’

Kim Davis Is Getting Her Very Own Armed Militia Security Detail

Kim Davis Is Getting Her Very Own Armed Militia Security Detail

Screen shot 2015-09-11 at 11.45.25 AMKim Davis is worried for her safety, ya’ll. You know, all those killer gays out there. So she’s getting her very own team of armed bodyguards, courtesy of anti-government extremists the Oath Keepers.

The Oath Keepers is a “patriot” groups that stations armed civilians, or as they prefer to call them “constitutional sheriffs,” outside of government buildings and other public spaces. They’re best known for showing up with assault weapons during the Furguson protests. Then there was that time they staged a government protest/armed standoff with the Bureau of Land Management at the Bundy Ranch and announced plans for a “second civil war.”

Well, now they’re offering complimentary protective services to the Notorious K.I.M.

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes announced that he has offered a 24/7 armed protection detail after Davis was she was “illegally detained by the federal judge who held her in contempt for violating multiple court orders.”

Rhodes said he is disappointed with the Rowan County sheriff, who he believes should have blocked U.S. Marshals from arresting Davis. Since the sheriff refused to step in, the Oath Keepers will.

“As far as we’re concerned, this is not over,” Rhodes said. “If the sheriff, who should be interceding, is not going to do his job and the governor is not going to do the governor’s job of interceding, then we’ll do it.”

Um, well, dude, you are at least a week late, so these guys would appear to be paper tigers.

And as for the conservative-appointed federal court judge who held Davis in contempt, Rhodes isn’t serenading him either.

“This judge needs to be put on notice that his behavior is not going to be accepted and we’ll be there to stop it and intercede ourselves if we have to,” he said, before adding that the group originally planned on grabbing their guns and surrounding the judge’s home but changed their minds after Davis was released from jail.

Probably a good decision.

“This is exactly the kind of thing that our Founding Fathers dealt with when dealing with the magistrates and the officers of the crown who wanted to run roughshod over the rights of the colonists without a jury indictment, without any of that,” Rhodes added. “Same thing. They’re going to show their power and show you who’s boss!”

Canada's new coin design

By Julie Masis

MONTREAL, Quebec — What do you see on Canada’s new coin design?

At first glance, it might look like a happy group of adults and children dancing in a circle. But fashion designer Robert Beaupre, who sketched the image, says he wanted to represent gay and lesbian parents and their children.

“It’s a unique opportunity to represent Canadian values,” Beaupre says. “Canada is a very open country, that doesn’t imprison people because they are gay. That’s what inspired me.”

The drawing is one of five finalists in a coin design contest to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017. Internet users can vote for their favorite design on the Royal Canadian Mint’s website until Oct. 9.

If Canada picks Beaupre’s “Canadian family” design, he hopes “no one in school will be able to say, ‘How can you have two fathers or two mothers — how can it be?’”

He’s up against a dove carrying a maple leaf in its beak (representing “Canadian wings of peace”), a bouquet of flowers, an aboriginal fish, and hands pressed together to form a maple leaf.

Beaupre, a women’s fur coat designer from Montreal, has been with his husband for 41 years. They’ve tied the knot three times: first in Vermont when civil unions became legal, then he and his husband were the second gay couple to officially get married in Quebec in 2004, and they renewed their vows again when gay marriage became legal across Canada.

Canada legalized same-sex marriage nationwide 10 years before the United States — in 2005. It was the first country outside of Europe to do so.

Beaupre says he was very lucky to meet his husband when he was still a teenager.

“We are the couple who stayed together longer than anyone in my family,” he says.

Had adoption laws for gay and lesbian couples changed earlier, Beaupre says he would have liked to raise a family.

My Transgender Life: Assimilation?

My Transgender Life: Assimilation?
I have had an internal debate about posting this. Like my book title, I evolved from “no” to “maybe” to “yes.”

Last week, I had what I refer to as a few skin carvings. One was to remove a basal cell carcinoma on my forehead and the other to remove a benign mole on my breast.

I really did not expect the latter to be fairly invasive as the doctor wanted to be sure there was enough “margin,” so some digging was required. This was a week ago today and below I am showing the area of incision and what will end up as lovely scar that is just below my bikini top. (Yes, I have been to the pool this week.)

2015-09-04-1441385881-6939137-FullSizeRender.jpg

However, I find it interesting as I am working with my parts that my three-year-old breasts — which just felt like they have always been there and are a part of me — have now been “marked” by the same things that GGs (Genetic Girls) have when the have lumpectomies and/or breast cancer.

My transgender journey for over 50 years, dreaming of living in the body that would match how I knew myself, never had the thoughts that were now running through my mind! One part tells me it is another symbol of assimilation into womanhood while another says it is something very different… yet it would not be clear what it meant…

I have total clarity that my sense of self is that I am both a woman and a trans woman. I am comfortable holding these two ideas in parallel without any criticism or battling between them. I realize not everyone who transitions feels the same way. If you have read anything I have written before, you will know that I believe that it’s okay with me too. Just the idea that I am thinking about the impact to me of this “invasive” surgery on my breast area makes me feel that I am living my true life and need to deal with things that many women have to deal with. This does not make it right or wrong, but it’s a surprising observation on my experience. Everything is fine, and I am now on a healing journey.

Perhaps this is more of my journey of assimilation and brings me more in common with other women. Just perhaps… I would not change a thing. No matter what happens I know how blessed I have been.

Just thought I would share this. Thanks for listening.
