Musician Axel Winter Drowns Out Anti-Gay Protester With 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun'

Musician Axel Winter Drowns Out Anti-Gay Protester With 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun'
Video footage of musician Axel Winter drowning out at anti-gay protester with a rendition of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” is going viral in the blogosphere after being picked up by Buzzfeed and other media outlets.

The clip shows Winter, 24, performing in the Pitt Street Mall in Sydney, Australia last week ahead of the city’s Mardi Gras parade.

“Yesterday, a man tried to yell hateful religiously inspired things about gay people in Pitt Street Mall,” Winter wrote on Facebook. “So, myself and the other buskers moved my stuff behind him and drowned out his negativity.”

He then added, “Whether you’re homosexual or transgender or even just confused, you’re still my friend.”

Why Did A Gay Man Drop Dead In A London Bathhouse? Nobody Knows.

Why Did A Gay Man Drop Dead In A London Bathhouse? Nobody Knows.

Screen shot 2015-03-10 at 12.56.47 PMPolice say they are investigating a bizarre episode that happened inside a 24-hour gay bathhouse in London over the weekend when a man dropped dead for no apparent reason.

The incident happened at Pleasuredrome in Waterloo on Sunday. The 37-year-old man had been enjoying the sauna when all of a sudden he collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors were unable to revive him.

Pleasuredrome, London’s self-proclaimed “best sauna for gay men,” has a drug and smoke free policy. The bathhouse boasts two large dry saunas, two steam rooms, a spa, tanning salon, 24-hour café, and 400-locker changing room.

A spokeswoman for Scotland Yard told the Standard: “Police were called at approximately 3:40 p.m. yesterday by staff at a south London hospital after a man who had been admitted there earlier in the day died…The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”

This is not the first time something like this has happened at Pleasuredrome.

In 2012, 41-year-old Greg Page was found dead inside the sauna the same evening 46-year-old John Scott collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where he, too, died. A joint investigation found high quantities of dance drug GHB in both men’s systems. A third man was found dead inside the bathhouse later that year after overdosing on mephedrone and GHB.

As a result of Sunday’s death, the Pleasuredrome was forced to close temporarily while police conducted their investigation.

Watch Episcopal Pioneer Rev. Malcolm Boyd's Final Interview: VIDEO

Watch Episcopal Pioneer Rev. Malcolm Boyd's Final Interview: VIDEO

Bboyd

Episcopal priest, author and gay rights activist Rev. Malcolm Boyd passed away in Los Angeles last month at the age of 91. Now, thanks to MSNBC, we’re able to watch Boyd’s final interview in which he discusses his time in Hollywood (he wanted something more meaningful), his priesthood and also offers sage advice to young people.

Here’s what he had to say about the latter:

Boydbw“I think older people with a certain kind of experience can be very helpful to non-older people, including ‘how did you make it?’ ‘What are you doing?’ Also, ‘how do you treat other people? Relax. Be yourself. Find out who you are. That’s a full time assignment. Have some fun. Enjoy life but also stand for something. There’s a lot to stand for. Keep learning. I would say keep your sense of humor and, if you don’t have one, get one. I really mean that.”

Wise words from a very wise man. Watch the entire clip, AFTER THE JUMP

Why It's So Important That Women Empower Other Women

Why It's So Important That Women Empower Other Women
Women’s empowerment starts with how women treat other women.

Created by SheKnows Media and BlogHer, a new video features a few of the women from this year’s BlogHer15 conference advisory board discussing the importance of women supporting one another in a collective effort to educate and empower female readers and content consumers.

BlogHer15 is an annual conference created in partnership with BlogHer and SheKnows Media that celebrates female content creators. This year’s expert advisory board, which attends and speaks at the conference, is made up of 37 people who are making an impact in the media world.

Four of these 37 members are featured in the video, including the founder of Digital Undivided Kathryn Finney, the founder of Femsplain Amber Gordon, managing partner of Greenroom Communications Kim Holderness and the founder and CEO of Pipeline Fellowship Natalia Oberti Noguera.

“We are our own biggest advocate, and if we can break that stereotypical girl versus girl mentality there’s so much that we can do,” Gordon says in the video.

Finney explains the impact that empowered women can have in media. “We have all of these platforms that are available to us, where there’s no longer the gatekeepers that tell us what we can write, when we can write, how we can write — we can do it any way we want to,” she says.

We couldn’t agree more.

Regular Guys Try Out Magic Mike Stripping

Regular Guys Try Out Magic Mike Stripping

Watch as these regular Buzzfeed guys try their hand (and chest, crotch and ass) at Magic Mike-style male stripping.

Well, regular guys plus Eugene. He’s a dreamboat.

They do a pretty good job, considering it can’t be easy to work a crowd with that many cellphone cameras pointed at you.
