We are happy to announce the following 4 upgrades to the GayFriendsChat.com Blogging and Social Networking Community:

1. All users can now create photo albums and upload pictures. Add a title and a description. Choose privacy options (public, visible to members, visible to friends, private) and enable/disable comments for the pic. Users can edit and delete their pictures at any time!

2. We have added a “Like” button to member’s activities to allow others to ‘like’ the item and see who else has done the same.

3. Share your favorite web links: Create and manage links from your profile. Assign links to a category. Control the visibility of your links (public, friends only, and hidden). Share other member’s links on your profile. Share any link with a group you are a member of. Upload an image “avatar” to show with a link. Auto embed rich media from URLs (YouTube, Flickr, and metacafe are supported). Automatic thumbnail picker available. Embed a PicApp.com or Fotoglif.com image and use as the avatar. Vote on other member’s links. Comment on other member’s links.

4. Individual users can now control who can view what information on their profile. To take advantage of this security feature, login to your account, click on the top left bar, and go to My Account + Profile + Edit Profile.

Welcome to our new Blogging and Social Networking platform, proudly powered by WordPress and BuddyPress.

Since March 03, 2007, a company named Ning hosted the GayFriendsChat.com Social Network free of charge.

As of May 4, 2010, Ning will be phasing out their free service and start charging Network Creators a premium for its services.

Starting May 4, 2010, GayFriendsChat.com will have at least 10 weeks to evaluate Ning’s new pricing structure and make a decision to move to the new paid service or migrate to another network.

We have decided to host our own blog and social networking platform using WordPress and BuddyPress. This will enable us to stay in control of all aspects of the services and free us from paying a monthly premium.
