ICYMI — TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY: On Saturday, HRC joined the world in marking International Transgender Day of Visibility, a time to celebrate transgender people and acknowledge the courage it takes to live openly and authentically. Advocates also use the day to raise awareness around discrimination and violence that trans people still face.
“Every year, we join together for International Transgender Day of Visibility to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and progress of the trans community and rededicate ourselves to the unfinished work of equality,” said HRC President Chad Griffin (@ChadHGriffin). “Increasingly, transgender kids growing up throughout America and around the world are seeing themselves reflected on stage and screen, in workplaces and politics. Unfortunately, for all of the advancements of the last several years, many transgender people, particularly transgender women of color, continue to face violence, discrimination, and an onslaught of political attacks from state legislatures to the highest levels of our government.” More from HRC.

HRC SUPPORTS DREAMERS: Yesterday, Trump reiterated his plan to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that protects Dreamers — including approximately 75,000 LGBTQ Dreamers — from deportation. Raul A. Reyes, in a piece for CNN, writes, “With his tweets, the President has displayed his ignorance of immigration laws, including those governing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. His social media outburst was as at best uninformed, and at worst blatantly misleading. In short, it was unpresidential.” More from CNN.
MUST WATCH MONDAY — ANCHORAGE DAD URGES NO VOTE ON DISCRIMINATORY PROP 1: David Lockard has joined his transgender teenage son, Col, in speaking out eloquently about the real people that Proposition 1 would harm. HRC President Chad Griffin and HRC National Field Director Marty Rouse recently visited Anchorage, Alaska, to support local coalition efforts to defeat the ballot measure, which would rip away non-discrimination protections and enshrine discrimination into law by forcing transgender people to use facilities that are inconsistent with their gender identity. HRC ENDORSES MINNESOTA SENATOR AMY KLOBUCHAR (DFL-MN) FOR RE-ELECTION: “Throughout her career, Amy Klobuchar has been a leading advocate for equality in the U.S. Senate,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “Senator Klobuchar is fighting tirelessly on behalf of the LGBTQ community, Minnesota, and the American people.
