Lying Mike Pence Spox: Skater Adam Rippon’s Claim VP Dislikes Gays ‘Has No Basis in Fact’
Earlier this week, U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon expressed his disapproval that Vice President Mike Pence is leading the U.S. delegation to South Korea for the Winter Olympics.
Rippon spoke with USA Today about the choice: “You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy? I’m not buying it.”
Rippon said he’d avoid a meet-and-greet with Pence because of his views: “If it were before my event, I would absolutely not go out of my way to meet somebody who I felt has gone out of their way to not only show that they aren’t a friend of a gay person but that they think that they’re sick.”
Rippon also said that Pence does not have a “real concept of reality” if he declares himself to be a “devout Christian” and stands by Donald Trump’s policies: “If he’s okay with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called ‘s—holes,’ I think he should really go to church.”
Rippon said he might speak to Pence if he felt there was a way to have “an open conversation.”
Pence’s spokesman Alyssa Farah told USA Today that Rippon’s claims have “no basis in fact:”
“The vice president is proud to lead the U.S. delegation to the Olympics and support America’s incredible athletes. This accusation is totally false and has no basis in fact. Despite these misinformed claims, the vice president will be enthusiastically supporting all the U.S. athletes competing next month in Pyeongchang.”
That, unfortunately, is not true.
Pence, as his record shows, is no friend to the LGBTQ community.
In 2000 during his first successful run for Congress, Pence said that he was in favor of sending money allocated to care for people with HIV/AIDS to organizations that provide conversion therapy.
From running a think-tank that published virulently anti-gay articles, to attempting to divert HIV/AIDS money to fund conversion therapy, to refusing to protect LGBT Hoosiers from discrimination, to legalizing anti-LGBT discrimination in Indiana, to cozying up to notorious homophobes, to supporting a ban on gay marriage, and decrying the ‘mainstreaming of homosexuality in the military’ after DADT was repealed, Pence’s record is among the worst records on LGBTQ issues of anyone who has ever occupied the office of the Vice President.

“Dschungelcamp”: Daran ist David Friedrich nicht mehr mit der “Bachelorette” zusammen
20 Männer haben um das Herz von Jessica Paszka gekämpft. Und das vor laufender Kamera in der RTL-Show “Bachelorette”.
Am Ende konnte der Rocker David Friedrich das Rennen für sich entscheiden – der Musiker erhielt die letzte Rose von Paszka. Doch schon nach ein paar Instagram-Posts stand fest: die Beziehung wird nicht dauerhaft halten. Woran die Beziehung letztendlich scheiterte, ist bis heute nicht bekannt.
Vor allem Friedrich hielt sich bislang bedeckt. Bislang. In der zweiten Folge des Dschungelcamps 2018 – ebenfalls einer RTL-Produktion – packt das Mitglied der Band “Eskimo Callboy” aus. Nachdem Schlagersängerin Tina York ihn direkt auf die Trennung anspricht.
“Wenn etwas passt, dann passt es und wenn nicht, dann nicht“, erklärt der Musiker. “Wer ist schuld und wer ist nicht schuld. Tina, irgendwann bist du die ganze Scheiße satt. Am Ende sind doch immer beide schuld”, gibt Friedrich zu.
Und weiter: “Die Leute sagen immer, du hast gewonnen. Wie ich das Wort hasse, du hast irgendwas gewonnen. Du kannst – gerade wenn du dich verliebst – nicht irgendwas gewinnen. Das geht nicht. Ich war der Auserwählte, der Musiker, der ganz viel unterwegs ist mit 50 bis 60 Shows im Jahr.”

Außerdem erzählt er York, dass er vor “Bachelorette” Paszka drei feste Beziehungen hatte. Seine Worte hören sich fast ein bisschen danach an, als fühle er sich ungerecht behandelt. Fast schon für seinen Beruf verurteilt.
“Wenn du vertraust und ehrlich zueinander bist, kriegst du jeden Scheiß hin, egal wo du gerade auf der Welt bist. Ich habe nicht mal ansatzweise irgendeine Scheiße gemacht. Ich würde nie belügen oder betrügen. Und dann bin ich abgestempelt worden, dass ich nur unterwegs bin. Angeblich ja immer Mädels um einen herum. So ein Schwachsinn.“
Friedrich gibt zu: “Klar, natürlich wurde mein Herz gebrochen.” Von Frauen hat er erstmal die “Schnauze voll”.

‘Hard Sun’ Episode 3 Review: 10 Burning Questions We Were Left Asking
While some people will have already binged the whole series of ‘Hard Sun’ on iPlayer, those watching it on TV were left on the edge of their seats as the latest instalment aired on Saturday (20 January) night.
And if you thought last week was grisly, episode three took things up a gear with not one, but three more ‘truther’ murders.
As Renko and Hicks got to work on the new case, they were still being bothered by MI5 over Hard Sun, while Renko also received a new lead in her on-going investigation against her partner.
There was certainly a lot to unpack from the episode, and these were the 10 questions we were left asking this week…
Was Jamie’s body moved after Tom killed her?
After Jamie Unwin was murdered, her body was found on Shepherds Bush Green, but it was implied her helpline’s office was near the City. Police said she lived in Putney, and had been walked half a mile from where her scooter was parked outside the office at knife-point.
Seeing as the City (in east London) is far more than half a mile from Shepherds Bush (in west London), does that mean her body was moved after Tom killed her? Or did he murder her there, and producers just didn’t anticipate viewers having a good knowledge of London geography?
Will the priest reveal Tom’s crimes?
During confession, Tom told his local priest that he’d murdered Jamie as a test to see if God would punish him, but Father Dennis’s vow of confessional meant he was bound by his faith not to report him.
Even a near-death encounter at the hands of Tom and increasing pressure from Hicks could not break him, but if more people are killed, will he finally spill Tom’s secret?
Who is Daniel’s father?
Having gone to see her son in the wake of MI5′s visit to his institutional facility, Renko was forced to admit to Daniel he was conceived after she was raped.
How did Daniel manage to keep the blade in his mouth without Renko knowing?
Shortly after Renko admitted the truth about Daniel’s conception, he poked his tongue out to reveal he’d been hiding a shiv in his mouth the whole time, going on to attack her before self harming.
Not only are we wondering who gave him the blade in the first place, (was it the mysterious MI5 agent?), but how the hell did he manage to have a whole conversation without cutting his mouth to ribbons?!
Why does Father Dennis have two phones?
We saw the priest contact Tom on a burner phone, prompting Hicks to question why he had two moblies. He tried to explain it away as one being “ready for the scrap heap” and joking he was speaking to a “transsexual dominatrix”, but does the fact he has a burner at all mean there could be a dodgy side to this man of the cloth?
How do Tom and Father Dennis really know each other?
While we’re assuming it could just be that Tom is a member of the parish, there are hints there could be more history to their relationship.
Were Butler and Hicks bent coppers?
Still on her undercover mission to find enough evidence to prove Hicks killed former partner Butler, Renko quizzed two gangsters to try and prove the pair were on the books of the Nicholson family mob, and had helped move the body of a murdered call girl to fit up a rival gang member.
Coleman – said rival gang member – later claimed Butler had come to him and said he wanted nothing to do with framing him and was threatening to grass Hicks up, but died before that could happen.
This would certainly give Hicks motive to kill Butler, but were they really both caught up in the criminal underworld?
Why has Renko abandoned her case against Hicks?
Despite getting the biggest breakthrough in her case against Hicks, Renko told her boss she was certain he didn’t kill Butler and there was no evidence to suggest he did.
The pair aren’t exactly close, so surely it was not his weepy plea in the café that changed her mind?
Will Hicks team up with MI5 to get rid of Renko?
With Renko in possession of the Hard Sun flash drive MI5 are so desperate to conceal, and her investigation into Hicks threatening his downfall, it seemed they had a problem in common.
Hicks seemingly agreed to help MI5 get rid of her in order to protect himself and be there for his family when ‘the end’ comes, but will be really go through with it?
Will Tom kill again?
Convinced Hard Sun is coming, Tom has not only killed the helpline worker and the good Samaritan on the bus, but the end of the episode saw him kill a TV reporter live on air.
How many more people will he murder before he is caught?

Kurz vor SPD-Parteitag: Antrag mächtiger Landesverbände setzt Schulz unter Druck
Mächtige Landesverbände der SPD setzen Parteichef Martin Schulz mit einem Antrag kurz vor dem Parteitag in Bonn extrem unter Druck.
Die NRW-SPD veröffentlichte am Samstag den Entwurf für einen Antrag, den auch die Hessen-SPD inhaltlich mitträgt.
► Darin wird die ersatzlose Abschaffung der sachgrundlosen Befristung und eine erweiterte Härtefallregel für den Familiennachzug von Flüchtlingen gefordert.
► Außerdem solle der “Einstieg in das Ende der Zwei-Klassen-Medizin” durch eine Angleichung der Honorarordnungen für gesetzlich und privat Versicherte erzielt werden. Bei diesen Knackpunkten müssten in Koalitionsverhandlungen mit der Union “substanzielle Verbesserungen erzielt werden”.
In dem Antragsentwurf heißt es weiter, die Parteispitze solle einen Koalitionsvertrag aushandeln, “der diese Verbesserungen enthält”. Eine klare Bedingung.
Die Landesverbände Hessen und NRW haben großes Gewicht in der SPD. Sie stellen beim Parteitag zusammen 216 Delegierte und damit mehr als ein Drittel der Gesamtzahl.
► Ob sich die SPD-Spitze tatsächlich auf solche Bedingungen einlässt, dürfte sich erst am Sonntag kurz vor dem Start des Parteitags herausstellen. Bislang empfiehlt die Parteispitze lediglich Koalitionsgespräche auf Basis der Sondierungen.
► Die Spitzengremien der SPD berieten am Samstag bis in den Abend über das weitere Vorgehen – deutlich länger, als ursprünglich angesetzt. Schulz sprach danach von einer “lebhaften und kontroversen Debatte”. Es handele sich um einen “richtungsweisenden Parteitag”. Der Diskussionsbedarf sei groß.
► Schulz habe diese Überlegungen im Verlauf der Woche auch selbst angestellt. “Wir haben die Bürgerversicherung nicht erreicht, aber das heißt nicht, dass wir nicht an einer Verbesserung bei der Zwei-Klassen-Medizin arbeiten wollen.” Auch bei der Härtefallregelung beim Familiennachzug lasse die SPD nicht locker.
Die Union hat wesentliche Nachbesserungen an den Sondierungsergebnissen ausgeschlossen. CDU-Parteivize Thomas Strobl reagierte verärgert auf die Forderungen aus der SPD.
► “Diese immer neuen Runden helfen nichts und niemandem”, sagte der baden-württembergische Innenminister der Funke Mediengruppe. ”Über Details sprechen wir noch – aber Grundlegendes, das nicht im Sondierungspapier steht, kommt auch nicht in die Koalitionsverhandlungen.”
► Auch in der SPD-Spitze wird die Forderung nach grundlegenden Änderungen am Sondierungspapier skeptisch gesehen. Fraktionschefin Andrea Nahles hatte davor gewarnt, sich “Illusionen” zu machen.
