Every week, the GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend!

1) The lesbian comedy thriller Women Who Kill was released Tuesday on video on demand services. The acclaimed satire written, directed and starring Ingrid Jungermann tells the story of two women (who are also exes) that run a podcast studying serial killers. Things get eerie when Morgan’s (Jungermann) new girlfriend might be one of the killers that the podcast has analyzed. Women Who Kill is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon now, and you can watch the trailer below!

2) Moises Serrano came out as being both gay and undocumented in rural North Carolina, and since then, has been an outspoken activist. He is the subject of Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer, which documents his work with the queer undocumented community in North Carolina around the country. The film shows Serrano working on connecting the fight for LGBTQ rights with the fight for immigration reform in this country.  The documentary airs Friday night and will be available to watch on Logo’s website.

3) Casting has been announced for the upcoming drama Boy Erased, a film based off of Gerrand Conley’s memoir of the same name. The film follows Conley as a young man who has been outed to his parents, and is forced into a so-called conversion therapy. The cast of this film includes several LGBTQ actors such as Cherry Jones, French filmmaker and actor Xavier Dolan, and singer Troye Sivan. Boy Erased will begin shooting this fall, and will be released by Focus Features in 2018.

4) Sam Abbas is writing, directing and starring in the feature film The Wedding; an indie about a young man who “goes against the taboos of Muslim culture to explore his own sexuality.” The film also stars Nikhol Boosheri who is currently playing out Muslim lesbian Adena on Freeform’s The Bold Type. Production for The Wedding is currently underway. 

5) A trailer has been released for the second season of Amazon’s GLAAD Media Award-nominated comedy One Mississippi, loosely based on the life of out comedian/writer/actor Tig Notaro. Season two of One Mississippi will all be released on Amazon on September 8^th. The first teaser trailer has also come out for TV Land’s upcoming Heathers reboot, which will feature Brendan Scannell as the genderqueer Heather Duke. The CW has released a trailer for the upcoming seasons of their DC superhero shows, of which Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow contain regular LGBTQ characters. In other TV news, SyFy has renewed Killjoys for two final seasons.

6) Ahead of the season four release of the GLAAD Media Award-winning dramedy Transparent, Amazon has released a teaser clip, highlighting the journey of Davina (Alexandra Billings). We’ve seen Davina throughout the series as a friend and support system for Maura (Jeffrey Tambor), but this season, we will get to uncover her past and the story of her finding her own family. Season four of Transparent is out on September 22^nd, and you can watch the clip below.

7) ABC is developing a family comedy from out writer Rob Sudduth and the producers behind The Real O’Neals. The comedy is Sudduth’s semi-autobiographical story of a man, his husband, and their son going to live with his Mexican-American family in Texas. In other television news, out bisexual actress and model Cara Delevingne has been cast opposite Orlando Bloom in the Amazon original fantasy series Carnival Row set to premiere in 2019. In reality TV news, out musician and television personality Lance Bass has been tapped to host MTV’s new series 90s House, premiering later this month.

8) LCD Soundsystem released their first album in six years, American Dream. on Friday. The already critically acclaimed album is also the band’s first album released since band member Gavin Russom came out as transgender earlier this year. American Dream is available to stream and buy wherever music is sold. Out singer Anthony Callea also released an album this Friday, ARIA Number 1 Hits in Symphony, featuring him accompanied by the Melbourne Symphony orchestra. The album is available for streaming and purchase now.

9) On Sunday Night on his Beats 1 “blonded RADIO” show, out bisexual musician Frank Ocean debuted a new track “Provider,” a year after his release of the album blond. “Provider” is available to stream and download now. Tegan and Sara also released a new song this week, as a collaboration with producer Matthew Dear. The song, their second collaboration with Dear, is available to stream and buy wherever music is sold.

10) St. Vincent released a music video for her single “New York” on Thursday. The video is a colorful montage featuring the singer facing the camera head on. St Vincent is about to embark on an international “Fear the Future” tour, and you can buy tickets here and watch the music video for “New York” below.

11) Halsey released a music video for her song “Bad at Love” on Wednesday. The song, which talks about the singer being unlucky in love, has lyrics about both male and female paramours. The video takes place in a futuristic desert and features Halsey bonding with a group of women. Halsey is going on the hopeless fountain kingdom tour this fall, and tickets are available now. 12) Pop duo SUPERFRUIT released a music video for their song “FUTURE FRIENDS” on Friday. The video follows the duo, composed of Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying, as they partake in a wrestling match as well as commentate on the match and dance in the ring. “FUTURE FRIENDS” is the titular track of their album of the same name, which will be out in completion of September 15th.

13) Nonbinary teacher and writer Lourdes is working on writing a children’s book about being genderqueer and non-binary. The book They Call Me Mix would be in English and Spanish and aimed at K-2 children, and help provide education on what it means to be transgender and non-binary.
